Considering that I live in a remote part of North Yorkshire,

bordering on Lancashire and Cumbria,

I find it amazing that I have, in the past 2 years,

had the pleasure of meeting Bonnie Hunter (in Germany), 

And today, the very entertaining Ricky Tims.

I very much enjoyed Ricky's talk on Caveman Quilting:

Baby-Kalico enjoyed the bright colours

and gorgeous swirly quilting ;)

She even got an affectonate greeting...

Perhaps you can see my lovely sodden clothing?!?

Well... Unfortunately, there was quite a lot of snow in Oldham today

and when we parked in the parking lot

there was lots of slippy wet slushy snow...

I bought my parking voucher

and when I went to put it in the window it blew away...

So I went to chase it and unfortunately I went flying...

I basically skidded on my stomach across the slush,

grazed my hands and fingers, bruised my knees

and to stop myself skidding into a parked car,

I flipped myself over and sat on my bum

and so ended up with very wet trousers, shirt and coat :(

Never mind, it didn't dampen my spirits,

nor the beauty of Ricky's stunning quilts...

Nearly, nearly a finish (or 2) for 2012!

Just need to get the binding on them first!

Baby Doll

Some pictures of Baby-Kalico with her dolly.

I have been making a dolly for our neighbour's daughter,

so I was looking at the one I had already made,

to see how I had made it - 

(so that I didn't have to read the instructions again LOL)

I managed to convince Master Kalico to get in the picture :)

(I will be honest...

these are actually just gratuitous baby photos

taken at 23 weeks!)

(Spots, spots spots! Especially if they're red ones!!)

An Update for Mother!

My mother, who has finally (after all these years)

found my blog complained that I'm not blogging enough

so this is very photo-heavy

and word light...

My 2 quilts are ready for collection

at Chris, my Longarmer so I am feeling the pressure

to get the backing made up for my rose hexagons...

I'm going to piece the backing with a recently purchased piece of fabric

and some rose fabric scraps.

I had planned on piecing the entire backing,

but I don't think I have the time and I would love

this quilt finished sometime in my lifetime :)

DH is getting some babysitting practise in, 

in preparation for my upcoming leg surgery.

Yes, one more attempt at fixing this darn leg of mine :(

Baby-Kalico doesn't mind who pushes the buggy as long as she can sleep!

She's now 5 months old...

And enjoys gumming the odd carrot...

Although she's not really on solids yet.

I took her to visit an old Aunty.

And she brought lots of smiles...

It's lovely to be able to share her love!

Wordless Wednesday - Visit with Vicky

I popped over to visit my dear friend Vicky today.

She had just come back from a days sewing

where she had put together this gorgeous quilt top.

So I said "Quick, quick, I need a Wordless Wednesday" :)

It's not quite wordless as I needed a few words

just to say that this isn't my quilt,

but it is made by my dear friend and I think it's beautiful!

Just a few words...

This week I discovered that she really is a fussy cat!

She loves this food:

A sheep on the farm has had a C-Section!

So she is now proud Mum to 2 little lambs!

And a friend brought me a gift from Germany.

To share or not to share ;)

That would have been the question if DH had not spotted them!!!

Doors are on!

No sewing of note to blog,

but spotted this gorgeous door today.

Love the red paint and the heart handle!

The doors are now on my studio

so the end is in sight :)

I can't wait!!

Mummy Made It

I thought I'd try my hand this week at a bit of dress-making.

Baby-Kalico dress-making!

I bought a lovely book which claimed to have 'full-size patterns'.

It didn't mention that ALL the full size patterns were printed on the 2 sheets

 and are just a mess of lines! :(

So I cut myself a pattern from one of Baby-Kalico's other dresses.

And made this little dress adding a flower that my mother had crocheted.

I can't wait to try some more!!

And my 'Mummy' i.e. Granny-Kalico sent Baby H a parcel this week

which included this gorgeous knitted set:

It's still a little big, but it goes nicely with her new dress:

It's a shame my mother no longer knits for me,
but it's my own fault!: As a child
I don't think I appreciated all her hard work,
but I do now!!

I just can't believe how quickly she is growing up -
sitting up, giggling... it won't be long before she's off!

Our strange cat seems to be able to make herself comfortable in any position :)

The Week That Was...

This was my week:

Monday went by in a bit of a blur...

Tuesday I dropped off my Cathedral Stars and a applique heart quilt

which will knock 2 UFO's off my list (as well as Vicky's quilts) at Chris for quilting -

I can't wait to get my quilts back and bound!!

Wednesday I went to a distant hospital for a CT scan of my legs.

If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny,

but the Radiographer asked me to straighten my leg as he said it was skew.

I replied: "That's why I am here!"

Vicky came with me to look after Baby-Kalico

while I was exposed to radiation :)

Afterwards we treated ourselves to a little fabric shopping...

I found some real treasures.

A lovely piece of Kaffe Fassett which will make a great backing:

And even a small piece of Tilda :)

We arrived back to find a parcel from Kate

which included 3 lovely quilt tops for Project Linus

and 2 gorgeous rose blocks for me!

Friday we visited my SIL and I snapped a few photos of my little Kalicos:

And today I snapped these gorgeous sheep on the way home from the shops....

So that was a bit of my week (what I can remember LOL)
