Getting 'On' With Things...

'On' the Longarm...
My Purple&Green Ocean blocks
being quilted with feathers...

Finally... a quilt and some of my threads...
 'on' the wall

I bought this quilt as an unfinished top
a few years back when I visited Birgit in Germany:
I brought it home and finished it
with hand quilting
and it's finally been hung up.

Birgit, can you remember who made it???

An old 'printer's tray'
works well for those odd threads...

I see a design wall here,
but I just need to convince DH!

And finally...
'on' the ironing board.
A new cover and a bigger board
for ironing quilts and backings

Now to get 'on' with some housework!

Studio Pinboard

Brrr...
I went into the studio to get something
and it's mighty cold in there.
I could put the fire on, but I'm just so busy
with other stuff that it wouldn't be worth it :(
While I was in there I glanced at my pinboard,

it's filling up with all the lovely things
friends have made or given me...
Or I've bought just because it's pretty
(like the robin and the stocking) :)

The 3 Christmas decorations
(the heart, bird and house) were made by a friend
who is an unasssuming crafter...
i.e. she doesn't realise just how lovely her things are!
And the decoration on the right is from Kate
and will always remind me of her last visit
as it comes with a funny story:
Kate bought two of these decorations,
and when she showed me one I said,
"Oh that's gorgeous!"

"Just as well" she said,
"because I've bought you one too!"

Hello Africa

Kate and I have traded African blocks
for a while now, although we have had
a few stops and starts...

When Kate came for her recent visit with her family
she brought me a new block:

And while we had a few spare minutes
together in the studio, I made us each an
African block too:

This pattern is called Ribbon Star.
*****
Kate had sent me these African blocks previously:
(which I had forgotten to blog)
I really do need to dig
all our African blocks out
and decide how to put them together!

*****
The studio needs a srious tidy up,
but it was great to share the space with a friend

*****
Kate also brought some quilt tops for Linus!
These will be passed on to be quilted and donated.
Thanks Kate!

Studio Move

Well, I'm off to hospital to get my leg done
so in order to leave things so that
all can survive without me ;)

I made a very quick move into my studio.
I've not moved in completely,
some of my stuff is still in the laundry room,
but at least now the laundry is not competing with my fabric and
I have made a start on being in my 'special place'.

We still need to move in work tables
and set up an ironing station,
but that will happen when I'm walking again...
My friend Vicky came to help
(and bossed me around LOL)
and between us we managed to get rid of a really huge bag of
fabric that I will not live long enough to use.
Obviously, none of my precious patchwork fabric
went, but some very dodgy bits of polyester,
crimpoline and some serious uglies etc. are looking for new homes :)

I have binding on a quilt ready to sew down, so
as soon as I'm home from the hospital, that will get done.
I am not actually taking any handwork
this time. I plan to just rest,
something I don't seem to have done for a while.

Daily Traffic Jam & Studio Update

I was driving home today and had to wait for the neighbours
to move their sheep so I just quickly snapped this photo
of the kind of traffic we get around here :)

*****
This morning I had been showing a friend
the floor that DH has laid in the studio...
Just as well I went back in later to get a photo
as I had inadvertantly closed kitty in!
She was pretty pleased to see me again :)

Doors are on!

No sewing of note to blog,
but spotted this gorgeous door today.
Love the red paint and the heart handle!

*****
The doors are now on my studio
so the end is in sight :)
I can't wait!!
