Yoga Cushions

A friend asked if I would make her some cushions...

She has been collecting vintage fabrics...

and wanted some cushions for her Yoga studio...

It was quite fun using her fabrics

and my trims

to come up these results.

Now back to quilting!

Concealed Zip Cushion

A few years back,

I did a refresher Screenprinting class

and this was one of my designs

which sat idly on a piece of cloth until I recently

turned it into a cushion....

 With a concealed zip on the back!

I used this tutorial that I found on youtube:

There has been plenty more sewing,

but October (and the end of September!)

is birthday month(s),

with all 3 children, DH 

and many many others in the family

celebrating their birthdays!

 However my husband, 

after getting certain gifts for his birthday this week,

has now been informed by Miss Kalico 

that is birthday is actually "Underpants Day!" :o)

Quilty Cat

Sadly, I have NO sewing to report. In fact it's a no-sew zone around here as we have had quite a lot of guests lately as well as things going on including school holidays and getting out into the garden and hospital visits and and and...

However, we are enjoying our little Abby who seems to like my quilts (clever girl LOL)
and we have been so grateful of the sunshine that we have been picnic-ing in for the past few days with our guests! Lets hope the sunshine and the quilt appreciation continues!!!

Filling in the gaps

I picked up my hexagons again as I have not had a chance to get any white fabric and I just can't sit and watch telly without something to stitch. So while my Lilies lie languishing, I am trying to get my rose hexagons to finished top stage. Quite a feat with crutches, but I am sure it must be good physiotherapy to get down and pin hexagon pieces in the gaps :-)



A friend bought a second-hand sofa and was so unhappy with the cushions that I offered to make her some new ones. We bought the fabric together and I made these seven for her. The biggest are approximately 28" square.


After they were made I thought I had better make us some new ones. I have made six and just have 4 to complete, but I am definitely all cushioned out for a while now!!! (Especially as I sewed my own cushions the wrong way up. They are stripy so perhaps there isn't really a right or a wrong way LOL)

And Nichole and I have done a fun private fabric swap. I received these amazing surprise fabrics...


And these gorgeous spots. I love spots at the moment!



Nichole also included some quilting magazines and some lovely goats milk soap. I have sent her a selection of African fabrics, some magazines and some surprises! Thanks for swapping Nichole!

Birthdays and giveaways...

Well I have made it to my 100th post on the same day that my big boy turned 3! So Happy Birthday Jack, I hope you have many many more! Here he is with his birthday loot...

The cake for school... (pesky icing wouldn't set, but that's what you get when you ice a cake at midnight I guess)

Next week, regular sewing commences!!! I have been sidetracked this week as a friend has offered to put a few of my things on her craft stall on Sunday so I have been finishing bits and pieces (cushions, bags included) and making bits.. Hopefully she'll have great weather and lots of customers :O)

I have also made my PIF's (Pay it Forwards) which I signed up to on Kerry’s blog. Kerry still has a couple of hundred days, but I just wanted to get mine done and off my list. Here are the backs of them...


I have some NYB BOM's to make and tons of WIP's, UFO's etc... so I better get going LOL. Actually I feel so much more content when I sew, funny that huh?

The kindness of others (part2)

Look what I found in my mailbox today! A beautiful artwork from Kate.

It really brightened my day. It hasn't photographed that well - it definitely looks better at my house :-)
Thank you Kate. I admired it on her blog without realising it was destined for me LOL.

She also sent her next block for our one-on-one African Blockswap. I like this one, it's a simple block, but shows off all the 'wild' African prints.


Also, thank you to all the lovely bloggers (Juliann, Lynda & Kate P) who have offered to help with my local Project Linus UK. Vicky, my local co-ordinator was very pleased to hear that we were getting some help and said "anything would be much appreciated and nothing would be turned away". It made me feel so guilty that I had been sitting on this quilt top for so very long...
It's one of my UFO's. But on Friday I'll drop it off and it will be a Linus quilt. As you may be able to see it's basted and just waiting to be quilted.

Tonight I managed to get my "Butterfly Blossom" sewn together as well as starting another Linus top, this time for a boy (more on that another day).

And on another note, we had a little visitor again yesterday so I did a bit of sewing with her, using up another orphan block from a heart block swap (I appliqued the heart)...

Little girls... pink...hearts... say no more :-)
