19 months later...

..and I'm ready to add the binding to DS2's BABY quilt.

Ok, so he's 19 months old, life got in the way LOL
Actually now he'll probably get more use out of it as one doesn't have to worry about baby's regulating their body temperature etc.

I didn't have enough teal fabric for the binding so I've decided to go scrappy yet again as I am not buying any more fabric!

All I have to do now (after I've put the binding on!) is to decide what to handquilt next:

The monster is King-size and I've already started a bit of the quilting and the Ostrich is much smaller and only 2 years in the making. Both are UFO's in need of finishing. What to do, oh what to do...

Stash and grab

Yesterday I met Chris at Embsay Mills to pick up my quilts. She did a fabulous job on Toby's First birthday quilt (deadline October).

It's just a simple all over design, but I'm very pleased with how it's come out...

Now I just have the binding to do. We have had new carpet laid in one of the converted rooms in our building site, er.. um I mean house, but it was a great place to attach the binding and Toby gave his new quilt a test run at the same time....



Chris also basted my Ostrich and as soon as I've finished handquilting the heart quilt, I'll get going on it.


Because Jack has the pox, I couldn't bring him in the shop, so with both kids asleep in the car, I ran around the shop and 'grabbed' this little lot. It felt like a 5 minute trolley dash LOL...

UFO of the week

I have so many unfinished projects, I thought I would feature one a week LOL. Not with the intention of completing any of them neccessarily, especially not in a week!, but more that I potentially revive interest in them for myself.

As I'm off to meet Chris at Fathers Heart tomorrow (right weekend this time - I hope) and will be taking both my Ostrich to baste and Toby's top to quilt, so I thought I would 'feature' one of those. Unbelievably (well not for me) both backing fabrics are too small!! So tonight I will be trying to sort that out as well as de-threading and ironing. I have already 'featured' Toby's Quilt in previous posts so I thought this week's UFO is my BQL Ostrich. For those who don't know about this project it's a sort of nesting robin and each month we had to add to it as per the instructions. I really enjoyed it, met some very nice people and did 90% of it while pregnant with Toby. I only as Ostriches do, stuck my head in the sand in October when I gave birth to Toby.

We had to choose our own starting block. I chose a heart block I had made for swapping, but had kept this one from the set.

Then we had to do some sort of piecing. I found this pattern on Quilterscache.

And then promptly chopped them in half the next month when we had to do some applique. The applique pattern is also from Quilterscache, but this time I quartered it LOL.

The next month I fluffed it a bit and made HST's instead of QST's by mistake, but tried to resurecct myself by adding a few QST's on the corners of the borders later.

Then it was stars. these are from Ula Lenz and they were great to do....

Then it was squares, I think....

Then, if I recall correctly it was flying things... I did my first ever Flying Geese.

And finally, here it is waiting to be basted, quilted, bound and finished hahaha


ps When Toby was a bump, the bump was called Harry. I thought when I manage to finish this with lots of hand quilting, I might call it 'A heart for Harry'.
